Hiring a doula can help make the pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience better.
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. Doulas do not take a clinical role and work alongside midwives and doctors. They do not advise, but can support a woman to find balanced information to make informed decisions about her maternity care.
A doula is not there only for moms-to-be. She also play a key role in helping their partners, offering them invaluable emotional and practical support during the overwhelming experience of childbirth
Doula support from Din Gravidcoach
Two prenatal meetings (90 minutes/meeting) where we talk about your expectations, thoughts, feelings, prior expreriences, eventual fears or wishes. We also go through hospital routines, coping strategies, pain relief, birth letter, breast feeding, the physiological process of birth or other topics you want to include.
During these meetings we also practice a few different non-medical pain relief techniques, such as massage, counter-pressure and exercises from Spinning Babies.
On call 24 hours a day beginning one week before your EDD date up until labor begins. This means that we are available 24/7 during this time. We stay through the whole birth and give support based on your needs and wishes.
One meeting (90 minutes), a week or so after baby is born, where the doula support you as you settle in life with a new baby, help with infant feeding as needed and allow you an opportunity to talk over the birth. Many parents feel that this meeting is as valuable as the two preparatory meetings.

Adjustments due to Covid-19
Due to Covid-19 pandemic our support during your birth has been adjusted. The plan is as above, with the excepion om physical presence during the birth. The doula will meet with you in your home when labor begins and accompany you to the hospital when you feel ready for this. After this she will be available for you during the birth process, via phone and/or video link.
If birth partner has symptoms of COVID-19, or if the precense for any other reason is is prevented, I will be your back up and attend the birth.
"Like many parents-to-be, we were initially unsure of whether we should even get a doula. A lot people assume a doula replaces a partner, but as we found out, the doula is really there to be a support for both, and to allow a birth to result from a true partnership of parents-to-be. From our experience with our doula from Din Gravidcoach, we can additionally say that a doula is a person who is equipped with a wonderful and unique balance of the emotional and practical aspects of the birth process; they are a person who listens carefully to each parent and knows just the small details you forget to ask about but then appreciate afterwards...We had a special birth and now have a very special little boy, and we are very very grateful to our doula for joining us on the journey!"
